The Ukrainian army claims to have attacked a Russian landing ship with sea drones. The ship of the Black Sea Fleet is said to have sunk. Only at the beginning of February, Ukraine stated that they had sunk a Russian ship.
According to the Ukrainian military, they severely damaged and sank a ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet on the southern coast of the annexed Crimea. The Ukrainians allegedly attacked the landing ship “Caesar Kunikov” near the city of Alupka using sea drones of the type “Magura V5,” according to the Military Intelligence Agency HUR.
The agency also released a video claiming to show the moment of the attack. The extent of the damage cannot be independently verified at this time. There has been no reaction from the Russian side so far.
In the morning, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported only six Ukrainian drones allegedly shot down over the Black Sea during the night.
This is the second time in two weeks that the Ukrainian armed forces claimed to have sunk a Russian ship in the Black Sea. In early February, the HUR released a video allegedly showing sea drones attacking the Russian corvette “Ivanovets.”
According to a later assessment by the British Ministry of Defense, the published footage almost certainly indicated that the ship had sunk.
The Ukrainian military has already damaged Russian warships with missiles and sea drones several times. According to an assessment by Kyiv in early February, the Russian Black Sea Fleet lost nearly a third of its combat ships and has been largely displaced from the western part of the Black Sea.
