Ukrainian Air Defense Shoots Rockets over Kiev

For the entire Ukraine, air sirens have been triggered: According to Ukrainian reports, the air defense system has shot down several Russian hypersonic missiles over Kiev. Meanwhile, Russia speaks of a drone attack on Moscow.

According to authorities, the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, has once again been targeted by Russian rockets. The spokesperson for the Kiev Military Administration, Mykhailo Shamanov, stated on television that several Russian hypersonic missiles of the “Kinzhal” type (Russian for “Dagger”) were shot down by the air defense system.

Earlier, air sirens were triggered throughout Ukraine due to the presence of Russian MiG-31K jets. Several explosions were heard in Kiev. The mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, urged the population to stay in shelters. He wrote on Telegram that the air defense system is in operation.

Authorities reported finding rocket debris in a northern district of the city. They fell on the grounds of a children’s hospital and the roof of a private house. There is no information about any injuries. According to Ukrainian reports, the air defense system was also active in the western Ukrainian regions of Vinnytsia and Khmelnytskyi. According to the governor of the southwestern district of Ivano-Frankivsk, Switlana Onyshchuk, an eight-year-old boy was killed there. Attacks also in the south and east of the country

In addition, people are said to have been killed and injured in attacks in the south and east of the country. According to the local military administration, a 53-year-old man died in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson after his residence was hit by Russian artillery.

In the town of Beryslaw, about 70 kilometers to the east, two police officers were reportedly injured after a Russian drone attacked their patrol vehicle. According to local authorities on Telegram, Russian forces fired upon the Cherson region a total of 60 times in the past 24 hours. Authorities also reported that a civilian was killed by Russian artillery in the embattled eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk on Thursday and Friday, with nine people injured, including a child. More than 80 buildings in the surrounding area were damaged.

Meanwhile, the military administration of the northeastern region of Kharkiv reported massive Russian shelling in the past hours. According to the authorities, a woman was killed and a man was injured near the front city of Kupiansk. These claims cannot be independently verified. Rocket destroys hotel in Zaporizhzhia

On Thursday evening, a rocket struck a hotel in the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia. According to authorities, one person was killed and 16 people were injured, including four children. Local media reported that the damaged building was the Reikartz hotel in the city center, which is often used by United Nations employees.

“I am horrified by the news that a Russian attack in Zaporizhzhia hit a hotel frequented by United Nations staff and non-governmental organizations supporting people affected by the war,” said Denise Brown, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, in an email.

The Russian defense ministry, however, stated that the army had hit a quarter where “foreign mercenaries” were accommodated. Drone attack in Moscow

Meanwhile, the Russian capital of Moscow appears to have been attacked by a drone again. Photos and videos of a column of smoke rising in the west of the city along Karamyshevskaya Promenade were shared on social media. Witnesses reported an explosion.

Shortly after, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that a drone had been successfully repelled there. Debris fell, but no one was injured.

The Russian Defense Ministry was quoted by the RIA news agency as saying that the incident was an “attempt by the Kiev regime to attack an object on Moscow territory”.

Moscow has been the target of drone attacks in recent weeks, some of which have reached the city center and caused damage to buildings.
