Tour de France abruptly ends for two cyclists due to crashes

At least two professional cyclists have had their Tour de France journey cut short after crashing just before the finish line of Stage 4.

According to his team, Astana Qazasqstan, Spaniard Luis Leon Sanchez suffered a broken left collarbone and will return to Spain. The 39-year-old will undergo surgery upon his return, as announced by his team.

Italian rider Jacopo Guarnieri, part of the Lotto team, also cannot continue the Tour. In addition to his collarbone fracture, the 35-year-old sustained minor fractures in three ribs and suffered abrasions. Guarnieri is scheduled for surgery later this week.

Caleb Ewan loses lead-out rider

Guarnieri serves as the lead-out rider for Australian cyclist Caleb Ewan, who finished second in a sprint during Stage 4 in Nogaro on Tuesday.

During one of the three crashes that occurred towards the end of the stage, Dutch European champion Fabio Jakobsen also fell. The 27-year-old suffered abrasions but managed to complete the stage.
