Two Russian Su-27 fighter jets intercepted an RC-135 radio reconnaissance aircraft and two Typhoon multi-role fighters of the Royal Air Force (RAF) over the Black Sea, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense on June 26.
On Monday, Russian airspace control detected three approaching air targets near the state border of the Russian Federation over the Black Sea. In order to identify them and prevent any violation of the state border, Su-27 fighters were scrambled.
“The crews of the Russian fighters identified the air targets as an RC-135 radio reconnaissance and electronic warfare aircraft and two RAF Typhoon multi-role fighters. As the Russian fighters approached, the foreign military aircraft turned away from the state border of the Russian Federation,” the defense ministry statement said on its Telegram channel.
The Russian fighters safely returned to their base. No violation of the state border occurred.
