Alexander McQueen was a British fashion designer who is known for his dramatic and avant-garde designs that challenged conventional ideas of fashion. He was born on March 17, 1969, in London, England, and raised in a working-class family. McQueen began his fashion career as an apprentice at Savile Row, where he learned the art of tailoring. He went on to study fashion at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.
After graduation, McQueen worked for Givenchy in Paris, where he developed a reputation for his bold and imaginative designs. In 1992, he launched his eponymous fashion label, Alexander McQueen, which quickly gained a following for its unconventional designs. McQueen was known for his elaborate runway shows that often featured extreme and provocative elements such as live animals, robots, and holograms.
