The Kuwaitian national oil company announced, on Monday, March 20, the “state of emergency” after an oil leak. This took place ina non-inhabited region, without being injured, and “production was not affected,” the spokesman for the company Kuwait Oil Company, Qusai Alamer, told AFP, without specify the exact location of the incident.
“No toxic emanation has been reported on the site,” he added. He pointed out that teams had been sent to determine the origin of the leak and contain it
Kuwait is one of the main raw producers in the world. Almost 90% of its income comes from oil. The Kuwait Oil Company had reported several oil leaks in recent years. In 2017, two petroleum tablecloths had been identified off the coast of the country in the space of a few days.
