More and more countries are imposing a mandatory Covid test for travelers from China. After Italy and Spain, France is in turn strengthening measures to limit the circulation of the virus. From Thursday 5 January, a negative test will be required to re-enter the country.

At Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport, on the morning of Saturday December 31, the arrival is almost normal for passengers arriving from Shanghai (China). The only recommendation at the moment is to wear a mask. “I don’t know if I’m infected, so wearing a mask is better for others,” comments a traveler.

New restrictions

Faced with the epidemic outbreak in China, France will impose new restrictions. From the beginning of January, a negative Covid-19 test of less than 48 hours will be required on departure for passengers arriving from China. From January 1, the mask will be compulsory on board the plane, and random PCR tests will be carried out for Chinese travelers arriving in France. These precautions are deemed unwarranted by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, as immunity levels are high in Europe.
